PREPARE FOR ONE OF THE BIGGEST CHURCH EVENTS OF THE YEAR; IT HAPPENS ONLY ONCE

EVERY 150 YEARS !!!

Put October 5, 2008 on your calendar. That is the day that the church will celebrate its sesquicentennial. In the morning there will be a special service highlighting the 150 years of church history. The church began in a little country school, just north of Albany in the year 1858. It has been housed in three buildings, two of them frame, and the present brick building, purchased from the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1921. Hopefully, by the end of the year, it will move from its 87 years of being downtown, to the new building and grounds on Highway 136.

After the activities of the morning of October 5th, the church will have a basket lunch in the fellowship hall of the current building. In the afternoon at 2:30 p.m., the children and youth of the church will have games on the grounds of the new church. At 4:00 p.m. there will be a dedication of a tree planted to commemorate 150 years of church history. At about 4:30 pm in the new building there will be a recollection and memory time from some of the past members and at 5:00 p.m. a musical concert by the Gospelaires. At 6:00 p.m. there will be a light meal served. There will be many activities and surprises throughout the day.

PLAN NOW TO ATTEND THE CELEBRATION INVITE CHURCH MEMBERS OF THE PAST TO COME AND SHARE IN THIS DAY WITH THE CHURCH.

TEAMWORK

I have known many university coaches in various sports, such as football, basketball, track, tennis, and swimming. I have asked some of these coaches, "Who are your most valuable players, those who make the most points or those who thrill the grandstands?"

Almost without exception the answer is, "The most valuable player is the team player who is loyal, unselfish and who promotes teamwork among the rest of the players."

Teamwork through the years has brought the church to its 150th Anniversary. It has made our church one of the strongest and largest in North Missouri and made it possible for the church to build a beautiful new building for God's honor and glory.

For we are laborers together with God - I Corinthians 3:9

Blessings,

Dr. May
