2008 Vacation Bible School
The theme for
VBS's 45 Island Guides hosted 91 Wave Riders. Activities included Bible Study, Mission Site, Music, Crafts and delicious snacks. Our enrollment included: Preschool-13; Kindergarten-1st Grade-20, Second & Third Grades -12; Fourth Grade -14 & Middle School-32.
The boys and girls continued their competition for bringing the most pennies and the girls won. We also had some prizes that the Wave Riders competed for-Memorizing Bible Verses-prize Royals tickets; Bringing most guests - prize $20.00 gift card from Pamida; Perfect Attendance prize - Outrigger Island backpack; and those attending the Saturday night program were eligible for a drawing for a gift bag full of goodies. Wave Riders meeting the criteria for each event had their name put in a bucket and a drawing was held at the Saturday Night Program. Wave Riders had to be present to win a prize.
This year VBS also had a Mission Project - the Wave Riders brought products, such as, gum & hard candy (individually wrapped), disposable razors, travel size deodorant, toothpaste and foot powder and packets were made for the 85 members of our local National Guard Battery A 129 that are serving in Kosovo. S/Sgt. Bobby Joe Smith visited and told the Wave Riders about life in Kosovo for our service men & women.
One Wave Rider accepted Christ as their personal savior and that makes it all worthwhile.
As always a great time was had by all on
